How has the investigation evolved since Thursday evening?

Thursday evening, the police officer from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) who used his weapon, and therefore sent the fatal shot, was taken into custody.

He was heard in the evening by investigators from the IGPN.

We learned this Friday afternoon, from the Grenoble public prosecutor's office, that the custody of this police officer was lifted by the public prosecutor's office last night, after his hearing.

“He said he had used his weapon in the direction of the two scooter users, one of whom was pointing him with a Kalashnikov-type rifle,” says Boris Duffau.

It should be noted that other witnesses were heard, including two of this policeman's colleagues who "confirmed the presence of a long weapon" carried by the users of the scooter.

What do we know about the two scooter users?

The autopsy of the driver of the scooter, aged 24 and who died Thursday in the middle of Grenoble, was carried out this Friday morning.

It revealed "a single fatal gunshot wound and no other traumatic injuries," says the Grenoble prosecutor's office.

In addition to the assault rifle, a bulletproof vest was found at the scene.

Boris Duffau confirms that no arrest has so far taken place, this Friday at the end of the afternoon.

The scooter passenger, who was holding the assault rifle during the incident, is therefore still on the run.

“The terrorist track is ruled out”, finally assures the prosecution.

The two investigations by the judicial police and the IGPN are continuing in parallel.

If "no link is established with the events in the Hoche district", the Grenoble prosecutor's office mentions in the same press release the opening of another investigation,

entrusted to the judicial police, concerning the shootings which occurred, Thursday around 11:30 p.m., in the Villeneuve district of Grenoble.

These facts led to the injury to the leg of a 23-year-old man.
