It was in February this year that the man was sentenced in Kristianstad District Court to 17 years in prison for aggravated rape, human trafficking and aggravated assault on a woman.

The crimes took place both in the man's home in Kristianstad, but also in Berlin where he sold the woman to other men.

- The Court of Appeal takes the crimes for which the man is convicted seriously, but the penalty value is lower than what the district court has concluded, says Court of Appeal Councilor Katarina Persson in a press release.

She adds:

- For comparison, it can be mentioned that the Supreme Court sentenced twelve years' imprisonment in a case which, among other things, concerned about 100 cases of aggravated rape of children committed during almost five years.

The man appealed the verdict

The man, chose to appeal the district court's ruling and says, via his lawyer to SVT Nyheter, that he is satisfied with the outcome in the Court of Appeal.

- Eleven years is a long sentence, but my client is satisfied that the Court of Appeal reduced it from 17 years, says the 54-year-old's lawyer Per Swahn.

The man must pay SEK 575,000 in damages to the plaintiffs.

He must be detained until the prison sentence is served.

In 2005, the 54-year-old was sentenced to 14 years in prison for similar crimes.
