The Versailles Criminal Court (Yvelines) sentenced a 53-year-old man to three years in prison on Monday, including 18 months.

, he was accused of having stolen from the elderly in front of parking meters, in Yvelines and Hauts-de-Seine, for damage estimated at 32,000 euros.

Each time, he accosted his victims claiming not to have a credit card and asked them if they could pay for his parking in exchange for a five euro note.

He then managed to steal their card and their code and then withdraw large sums of money.

An organized gang

It was an elderly person who alerted the police on April 26, 2021, after his credit card was stolen in Versailles.

Thanks to video surveillance, the investigators had managed to identify the vehicle in which the suspect was mounted, and to go back to him.

They had also discovered that identical cases had been reported in Hauts-de-Seine and that each time the suspect was in the theft sector.

The investigation ended up showing that he was part of an organized gang that was rampant in Ile-de-France.
