“We continue the dialogue with the European Commission and Lithuania.

We are assured that the issue should be resolved in the near future,” the statement said.

According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, Moscow expects that the only correct decision will be made in Brussels and Vilnius, which will ensure unhindered transit to the Kaliningrad region.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also threatened Lithuania and the European Union with harsh retaliatory measures if the problem with transit to the Kaliningrad region is not resolved in the coming days.

Earlier, the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, said that work was underway to resolve the issue of transit to the region.

In addition, Alikhanov said that if the deadlines announced by the European Union for resolving the issue of transit are not met, the authorities of the region will turn to the country's leadership with a proposal to take retaliatory measures.

On June 17, the Lithuanian Railways notified the Kaliningrad Railways of stopping the transit of a number of sanctioned goods.
