Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe fell bleeding after being shot in the chest, and is currently in cardiopulmonary arrest, local reports are coming out.



Local police said former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was hit with two shotguns from the back.



Former Prime Minister Abe was rushed to a nearby hospital, and it is said that he will be transported to another hospital by helicopter for treatment.



According to NHK reporter covering the scene at the time of the shooting, former Prime Minister Abe was giving a speech and after hearing the gunshots two times, Abe fell to the podium, bleeding and falling on the stage.



The police are now said to have secured a new recruit from a male in their 40s at the scene, and the local police are investigating the exact circumstances of the crime.
