According to a media report from Dagong Wenhui, in order to meet the long-term development needs of Hong Kong's culture and arts, the Hong Kong SAR government plans to build a heritage restoration resource center in Tin Shui Wai and a New Territories East Cultural Center in Fanling.

Both projects are targeted to be completed within four and five and a half years.

  According to a document submitted by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau to the Legislative Council Panel on Home Affairs, the Hong Kong SAR Government announced in the "2017 Policy Agenda" that it plans to build a heritage restoration resource centre.

The construction of the Resource Centre is the first phase of the integrated recreational and cultural project on Tin Yip Road, Tin Shui Wai, while the second phase of the project will include the construction of a gymnasium, library and public car park.

The site of the Heritage Restoration Resource Center is located on Tin Yip Road, Tin Shui Wai, covering an area of ​​about 4,924 square meters. It is adjacent to Tin Shui Wai (Tin Yip Road) Community Health Center and Fong Run Wah Middle School of the Church of Christ in China.

As for the New Territories East Cultural Centre, it covers an area of ​​about 17,740 square meters and is located near the Fanling North District Government Offices and the Fanling Law Courts Building.

  According to the bureau, the Heritage Restoration Resource Centre will be the largest exhibition and educational resource centre in Hong Kong outside the LCSD's existing museums. .

The resource center will also have a visual collection library, a heritage restoration studio, a heritage study room, a reference data room and an interactive platform.

As the first heritage storage and restoration centre in Hong Kong with a 24/7 environmental monitoring system, the resource centre will provide ideal and sufficient storage space for the collections, enabling heritage management and restoration to reach international standards.

The Resource Centre has a specialist heritage restoration studio, which can preserve the collections of museums under the LCSD.
