The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, attended the event and pointed out in his speech that the momentum of innovation and technology development in Hong Kong continues to be strong.

  Li Jiachao said that Hong Kong's strong scientific research strength is due to the unremitting efforts of multiple generations of innovators.

The vigorous development of the Science Park is a testament to the concerted efforts of the SAR government, innovation and technology enterprises and scientific research talents, which have yielded fruitful results.

He also mentioned that the number of start-ups in Hong Kong has increased to about 4,000, and he has also witnessed the birth of many "unicorn" enterprises.

  Li Jiachao emphasized that the new SAR government will continue to invest in innovation and technology, and fully and actively integrate into the overall development of the country.

Looking forward to the future, the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park and the San Tin/Lok Ma Chau area will become Santian Science and Technology City, deepening the innovation and technology cooperation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

The Shenzhen branch of the Hong Kong Science Park will be put into service in phases in the second half of this year, and the "Greater Bay Area Innovation and Technology Leaping Academy" and "Greater Bay Area Innovation and Technology Express Line" will be established to cultivate start-up talents and support technology companies to go global.

  In terms of gathering talents, Li Jiachao said that the SAR government will continue to strengthen the local I&T talent pool through a multi-pronged approach, attracting I&T talents from home and abroad to come to Hong Kong for R&D or teaching work, and build Hong Kong into an international scientific research capital.

  Tan Tieniu, deputy director of the Hong Kong Liaison Office, put forward three hopes for the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation, which is responsible for the management of the Science Park: first, it is hoped that the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation will be based in Hong Kong and play a leading role in building an international innovation and technology center; second It is hoped that the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation will integrate into the country and play a bridge role in deepening the innovation and technology cooperation between the two places. Third, it is hoped that the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation will connect with the world and play a unique role in benefiting global innovation and technology resources.

  Cha Yichao, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, said that with the affirmation of the state, we will seize the opportunities arising from the national "14th Five-Year Plan" and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to provide more opportunities for young people and innovation and technology enterprises.
