Sentenced to life imprisonment, Jean-Marc Reiser is appealing his conviction

Sentenced on July 5 by the Bas-Rhin Assize Court to the maximum sentence he faced, i.e. life imprisonment with 22 years of security for the murder of Sophie Le Tan, Jean-Marc Reiser appealed of his conviction, we learned Thursday from one of his lawyers.

"Jean-Marc Reiser appealed today (Thursday) the civil and criminal provisions of the judgment of the Assize Court", indicated to AFP Maître Pierre Giuriato, confirming information from the regional daily

Jean-Marc Reiser, 61, will therefore have to be retried within a year.
