On the way home from Almedalen Week, editor-in-chief Helle Klein wrote an editorial that criticizes the police and the security police's preventive security work in Almedalen.

- The knife murder murdered a person and has wounded Almedalen as an idea, why does Säpo not know that a person with connections NMR walks around with a knife in Almedalen?

says Helle Klein to SVT.

According to chamber prosecutor Petra Götell, the connections to NRM are not a central part of the ongoing investigation.

She states that Ing-Marie Wieselgren was the target because of her professional profile and that the act was "aimed at psychiatry".

- A hatred of psychiatry, yes, that may be his motive, but he has long been in a violent environment, says Helle Klein.

"Can't keep track of everyone"

At the police press conference on Wednesday, Fredrik Persson, chief of police on Gotland, was asked if they could have prevented the murder.

- Unfortunately, it is the case that there are people with mental illness and we can not have control over it.

It is a challenge to keep track of what people are visiting among 40,000 visitors, tragically enough, he said.

- The relationship to NMR is information in the media that we look at, says Fredrik Persson.

No additional security measures

Following the incident, the police and Säpo have assessed that no further security measures need to be taken in Almedalen.

"Regarding the threat against Almedalen Week, we share the police's view that it has not changed as a result of the tragic event on Wednesday.

It is a challenge to prevent something from happening at large, open events with many visitors and participants ", writes Säpo to SVT.
