THE ESSENTIAL

  • Faced with inflation, the government will unveil a series of long-awaited measures intended to protect the purchasing power of the French.

A real passing exam for its relative majority in the Assembly in the face of opposition on the offensive.

    Two texts must be presented.

  • Elisabeth Borne called for “building together” “compromises” to respond to economic or climatic challenges during her general policy statement on Wednesday in Parliament, without convincing the oppositions who expressed their “mistrust” and castigated a hollow speech.

  • The motion of censure tabled by the groups will not be discussed before Friday, or even Tuesday.

Last night, after a stint on TF1, Elisabeth Borne went to give a second reading of her general policy speech in the Senate.

"I can't imagine the Republic without the Senate," she told the upper house, calling for "drawing inspiration" from the "experience" of senators and promising to act "in close collaboration with local elected officials.

"You are both the relay of the concerns of the French, the voice of local elected officials and territories, the force of balance and appeasement of our institutions", greeted the head of government.

"Prosecute Madam Prime Minister," replied the President of the Senate Gérard Larcher.

The cador LR "reaches out to the government" and says he is waiting for "a new method of governance".

“On May 7, the President of the Republic promised new relations with Parliament, with the living forces of the country.

We have to move on to practical work, ”he pleads.

“We will be, in my political family (LR), as in the senatorial majority, on an opposition line, clear, independent, responsible (…) We are not an anti-power, but a counter-power”, continues -he.
