On Friday, H2 Green steel received a green light from the Land and Environmental Court to begin construction of the new steel plant.

The steelworks will occupy just over 500 hectares and in order to be able to build the steelworks, the company wants to lead Lillbäcken, among other things.

Now during the summer months, soil preparation measures will be implemented and the construction itself is planned to start in August.

By 2026, production will be up and running

H2 Green steel has previously communicated that the steelworks will have the opportunity to produce fossil-free steel by 2026, which will also affect the construction of the steelworks.

- It will take place in stages and the first is planned to be completed by 2026, but only in 2030 will we have reached maximum capacity, says Ida-Linn Näzelius.

The shop window to the world

After the ceremonial opening, it was quickly full in the room that will act as a meeting place.

- The idea is that we should be able to show the project and continuously update where we are in the process and that the people of Boden feel involved in what is happening, says Ida-Linn Näzelius.

But according to her, there is also an idea to be able to show off to other stakeholders such as potential labor by making themselves visible in central Boden.

A couple of those who were in the meeting place's premises were Svartbybon Olle Hägglund and Bodensaren Sten-Göran Hällestrand.
