In search of lost waterfalls

Of course it won't be the Victoria Falls, but there's no need to go to the forests at the end of the world either to see beautiful waterfalls, at the bend of a hiking trail in beautiful forests.

Several hiking trails allow explorers to find the waterfalls.

Alsace has a good ten of them.

In the Bas-Rhin, one of our favorites and less popular is the Soultzbach waterfall.

The Cascade but also its water hole called "Salzloch", at the origin of many legends.

It seems that the latter is connected to the sea. A very pleasant little hike in the forest, which begins in the village of Urmatt.

Another waterfall, that of Hohwald, a few minutes by car from Mont Sainte Odile.

Exotic, it will delight the whole family, even if it's a bit steep to get there.

Finally, the best known but also essential,

green, about 25 meters high, the Nideck waterfall in Oberhaslach, just 40 km from Strasbourg.

The icing on the cake, it is located next to the ruins of the castle of the same name.

Its water flows against a wall of volcanic rock.

Alsatian architecture as seen on TV

Take your car, your motorcycle or your bicycle if you have good calves to explore the most beautiful villages in France.

In Alsace, many villages seem frozen in time.

No less than four of them were elected Favorite Villages of the French in the eponymous program presented by Stéphane Bern.

Three are located in the Bas-Rhin, one in the Haut-Rhin.

Knowing that other villages, Andlau in 2014 and Mittelbergheim in 2018 were ranked second, there is plenty to do for long walks without forgetting Bergheim in the Haut-Rhin , recently voted "The favorite village of the French" 2022.

The Pop Corn Labyrinth of Strasbourg, comes to open its doors in Oberhausbergen, route de Saverne (facing rue des tourterelles).

Ephemeral, the field will be made it will be open all summer.

The concept of this ephemeral labyrinth on four hectares arrives in the Bas-Rhin.

The opportunity to also link with the rural world.

With all along the route, information on fauna, flora, agriculture and the cultivation of corn thanks to informative panels.

And don't panic, if you get lost, at the end of the season, the field will resume its initial function, the corn will be harvested by the farmer who lent his field.

Discovering biodiversity for long walks

Finally unknown, the Grand Ried d'Alsace located in the plain between Strasbourg and Colmar, is full of activities, far from the beaten track.

With its floodplains, its lush forests, At the gates of Sélestat, the Ried de l'Ill Wald is a nature reserve of 1,855 hectares in the heart of the flood zone of the Ill.
