Continued high pressure on accidents at sea: "Comparable to last year"

Between 2020 and 2021, the number of maritime accidents increased from 184 to 202, according to statistics from the Swedish Transport Agency.

One reason for the accidents has been that more people have acquired a boat during the corona pandemic, which in turn has led to more inexperienced people going out to sea.

- It is important to adapt the speed to the area and ability, says lifeguard Hugo Aronzon.

Engine-related accidents

To a large extent, the accidents that have occurred this year have been motor-related, something that is common at the beginning of the season, according to Hugo Aronzon.
