TO ANALYSE

After Elisabeth Borne's general policy speech on Wednesday, it's time for a new Council of Ministers on Thursday.

The second of the week!

Emmanuel Macron has made an appointment with his government at 4 p.m. at the Élysée Palace.

A text must be presented on this occasion: the purchasing power bill, and the hardest part begins for the executive.

The necessary compromise

The Prime Minister repeats it over and over again: she wants to work on compromises with the opposition forces.

But the task promises to be particularly difficult, if not impossible, on the question of the bill on purchasing power, because each small step, each measure possibly granted to one camp, will be worth the reprobation of the other.

Example with the increase of the minimum wage to 1,500 euros net claimed by the left alliance.

Even if it is not topical, the executive knows in advance that imagining such a concession to Nupes would immediately make him lose the votes of the Republicans.

And vice versa on other measures.

In other words: the examination of the "purchasing power" bill will bring to light the deep blockage facing national representation.

A forthcoming disbandment?

An untenable situation in the eyes of a certain number of deputies.

Moreover, both in the ranks of the majority and on the side of the left alliance, voices are already beginning to rise in favor of dissolving the National Assembly.

Everyone hoping in the medium term to overturn the table to their advantage.

This means that the examination of this bill, which will begin in two weeks, on July 18, looks promising to say the least.
