Art Basel appoints Vincenzo de Bellis as new global director for its art fairs in Basel, Paris, Hong Kong and Miami Beach.

In his new position, which he takes up in August, de Bellis is responsible for the individual regional trade fair teams.

In addition, he should set up events and initiatives for Art Basel worldwide.

De Bellis wants to stimulate exchange between local art communities and the global art scene, artists, gallery owners, collectors and art institutions.

He organizes physical events, not the online events of the art fair.

De Bellis reports directly to Art Basel boss Marc Spiegler.

Spiegler said Vicenco de Bellis will play an important role in the future development of Art Basel and it is his responsibility to expand the global presence of the world's leading art fair.

De Bellis has been working in the art world for 20 years.

He was most recently curator and program director at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, USA.

Before that he was director of Miart, the international fair for modern and contemporary art, in Milan from 2012 to 2016.

During his tenure, the art fair developed into an international platform with 180 galleries.
