United States: the last establishment performing abortions in Mississippi is now closed

The Jackson clinic, capital of this conservative state in the southeastern United States, was precisely at the center of the case which went up to the Supreme Court.

After exhausting all possible remedies, the Jackson Women's Health Organization will have to close its doors this Wednesday evening.

It was known as the Pink House, in reference to its candy pink walls.

Walls a little cracked in places.

".

Since the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the constitutional right of American women to abortion, the clinic knew that it was living its last hours.

A final legal action granted him a few days of respite.

But this Thursday, it became illegal to have an abortion in Mississippi, even in cases of incest.  

What will become of the famous Pink House?

Anti-abortion activists interviewed by RFI mentioned the idea of ​​a crèche or a children's hospital.

The owner has in any case announced that a new clinic will open in another state, New Mexico, more than 1,700 km from here.

This will be one of the closest facilities for women in Mississippi who wish to terminate their pregnancy.
