It is noted that employees of the FSB and the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia conducted a series of searches as part of a criminal case that the Investigative Committee opened in June 2020 under Article 285 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

As it was established, in the period from 2016 to 2020, several officials from among the senior staff of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region committed abuses of official powers.

According to the investigation, they acquired property for personal use at the expense of the Fund for Assistance to the Programs of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

It is noted that at present the defendants are Umnov, Semyonov and Abakumov.

“They were detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Russia,” the department said.

Investigative actions and operational-search activities are ongoing.
