Man tried for violence after injuring his wife and baby

A man suspected of domestic violence must be tried this Wednesday by the criminal court of Avignon (Vaucluse).

On Sunday, his wife had called the emergency services, explaining that she had been hit with a piece of stroller, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

Accusation of marital rape

At the time of the events, the victim was holding her baby in her arms.

Because of the blows received by the mother, the child fell, injuring his head.

The mother and toddler received five days of ITT each.

Besides the violence, the wife also accused her husband of marital rape.

The suspect, in his thirties, was arrested shortly after the incident, then was heard by departmental security investigators.

He was brought two days later before a magistrate from the Avignon prosecutor's office.
