It was during Good Friday, when the right-wing extremist politician Rasmus Paludan was to visit Örebro to burn the Koran, that a violent riot broke out in Sveaparken.

The riot led to several private individuals and police officers being injured.

According to the preliminary investigation report, a questionnaire has been sent out to the 135 police officers who participated in the operation in Sveaparken.

50 police officers had to seek care for physical injuries and among these injuries were bruises, muscle / joint injuries, fractures, concussions and other injuries such as dental injuries.

- Initially, we had quite a few sick leaves, partly due to physical problems but also for mental and mental problems.

There are a lot of thoughts and worries, as there were many police officers who feared for their lives, says Erik Hiding, chairman of the Police Association in the Bergslagen region.

A total of 64 police officers, ie just over half of the participating police officers in Sveparken, stated that they had mental problems in the form of difficulty sleeping, worry / anxiety and difficulty eating.

According to the union, the issue of an investigation into the course of events has been pursued at national level.

- There is always a risk that it can escalate and it is a trade-off we must make and we do it daily.

But we must also get the space and the opportunities to have the tools to be able to make that choice, says Erik Hiding.
