Chancellor Olaf Scholz has described the AfD as "Russia's party".

He was responding to a question from AfD MP Steffen Kotré in the government survey on Wednesday in the Bundestag, who described the sanctions against Russia as "useless" and called for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline between Russia and Germany to be put into operation.

Scholz commented on this with the words: "I firmly believe that the AfD is not only a right-wing populist party, but also the party of Russia." Scholz confirmed that Germany was preparing to give up Russian oil and gas and was also building the necessary infrastructure for this .

"This is real energy security for Germany in the interests of all citizens."

In the government survey, cabinet members answer questions from MPs for 60 minutes.

Questions can be asked on any topic.

Scholz rejected the opposition's proposal to extend the remaining life of the three nuclear power plants still in operation in Germany.

Rather, it is about the three reactors producing as much electricity as possible in the summer in order to be able to reduce gas-fired power generation at the same time, says Scholz in the government survey in the Bundestag.

He called on the mineral oil companies to also pass on tax relief to customers.

It is "depressing" to see that some companies are currently making particularly large profits resulting from the situation, he said in the Bundestag during the government survey.

The companies are all the more obliged to ensure that prices do not shoot through the roof, he says, referring to the tank discount.

Regarding the security guarantees promised by the Federal Government for Ukraine, the Chancellor explained that these could not be specified at the moment.

The design must first be discussed with the partners and also with Ukraine itself, says Scholz in the government survey in the Bundestag.
