Last winter, the European Commission proposed that investments in nuclear power and natural gas should be considered climate-sustainable.

Something that created strong reactions from member countries and various party groups.

328 parliamentarians voted against the proposal and 278 in favor, but a larger majority than that was required to pass it.

The proposal thus passed.

Party politicians react differently

Social Democrat EU parliamentarian Jytte Guteland describes Wednesday's results as a missed opportunity to prevent fossil natural gas.

"It complicates the work of reducing climate emissions and making us independent of Putin," she wrote in a comment to TT, referring to the fact that Russia's exports can benefit if natural gas is considered green.

On the contrary, the Liberals' Karin Karlsbro describes it as a gain for Europe's energy supply:

“If you want to promote a development where we are not dependent on gas, no matter where it comes from, you have to say yes to the taxonomy.

It is not possible without nuclear power ", she writes in a comment.
