According to reports, on the same day, Albanese inspected the hard-hit areas in the northwest suburbs of New South Wales.

He said the government had asked Defense Ministry soldiers to assist in the cleanup and announced aid for the most affected people in the area.

This is the fourth major flooding in NSW in 18 months.

Albanese also said the recent floods showed that "we need to take action on climate change".

"We need to show leadership and encourage this action ... that's one of the reasons why my administration is taking climate change seriously and working with the world to ensure that global action is accelerated," he said.

In recent days, some 50,000 residents were evacuated due to continuous rain in parts of western and southwestern Sydney, Australia, and buildings and roads were flooded by torrential rain.
