A 71-year-old woman died after being trapped under a truck on Tuesday in Piolenc (Vaucluse).

This resident of the town was crossing the national 7, outside the pedestrian crossings, when the heavyweight restarted without seeing her, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

Stuck under the chassis of the truck, the septuagenarian had been taken care of on the spot by the firefighters and a team from Smur.

Seriously injured, she had been airlifted, in a condition deemed worrying, to a hospital in Marseille.

She eventually died there.

Negative alcohol and narcotics tests

An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the accident.

The gendarmes of the Orange brigade are in charge of the investigations.

Alcohol and narcotics tests were carried out on the truck driver.

They turned out to be negative.

In a state of shock, the man was taken care of by the firefighters.
