On your marks, get set, struggle.

Getting around and in the Lille metropolis will be very complicated this Wednesday, with the conjunction of several disturbing elements.

Suffice to say that if you have the possibility of telecommuting, do not deprive yourself of it.

The first traffic disruptor is the Tour de France.

Indeed, for the Lille start of the 5th stage, almost all of the city center will be cordoned off from Tuesday, 11 p.m., until the beginning of the afternoon of Wednesday.

Several highway entrances or exits will also be closed along the route.

Ditto for many roads in the municipalities crossed by the race.

Strike at Ilévia and SNCF

As a result, the authorities have called for favoring public transport… Except that it is not won on that side either.

Ilévia, public transport manager in the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL), announced a social movement for the day on Wednesday which should make the circulation of trams random during rush hours, in the morning, at noon and in the evening.

If the strike should not impact the metros and bus lines, some of the latter will however see their routes modified for the Tour de France.

Finally, still this Wednesday, a national strike at the SNCF will have repercussions on the Hauts-de-France TER network and on the LGV Nord without it being known precisely to what extent.
