Faced with the increase in covid cases, the Ile-de-France Regional Health Agency (ARS) unveiled a set of measures on Tuesday, inspired in particular by a report by Professor François Braun, which aim to relieve congestion in hospital services. and especially the emergency services.

Among other things, the ARS has planned to develop telemedicine medical units, i.e. a vehicle with a rescuer, a nurse and a telemedicine case.

Another measure also taken from the Braun report, the regional agency proposes to facilitate the transport of patients to a liberal doctor or a medical center on duty, instead of directing them directly to the emergency room.

“In Paris, we want to do it very quickly”, explains Pierre Ouanhnon, acting director of the care offer at ARS Île-de-France, who believes that “these will not be huge volumes, it depends on the patient's situation, the idea is to offer an additional solution that avoids having to go to the emergency room".

Measures specific to Ile-de-France

Beyond this local variation of a national plan, specific measures will also be put in place in Ile-de-France, where maternity hospitals, for example, are under great pressure.

A regional support cell will have to help health professionals to help women without medical follow-up or without registration, the most vulnerable therefore, to find a place.

Five mediators will be able to help the most stressed maternity wards who are faced with requests that do not fall within their profession.

Finally, to respond to the particularly critical situation of the Foch hospital, in the Hauts-de-Seine, whose emergency department threatened to close all summer, the ARS has planned to recruit a "bed manager" , who will have to manage this new flow, in particular by redirecting some of the patients to other hospitals, such as that of Ambroise Paré, in Boulogne.

“The situation in Ile-de-France is far from being the worst”, explains Amélie Verdier, general manager of the regional agency, who wants to be reassuring but firm at the same time: “We have no reason to be worried but we have to be vigilant”.
