How the shortage of raw materials threatens the holidays of some motorists

They ordered a new car several months ago, but still haven't received it.

Many motorists are faced with market shortages.

A shortage of semiconductors imported from China last year first, followed by a shortage of wire harnesses made in Ukraine this year due to the war.

The crisis continues to the point that some vehicles ordered last year have not yet been delivered.

What seriously disrupt some vacation plans, like Cynthia, who lives in the Haut-Rhin, near Mulhouse.

Car ordered in October 2021

At the end of the week, she has to go to Lausanne for a family vacation.

Problem: she is still waiting for the delivery of her new car, ordered in October 2021. Months of waiting and today this delay is disrupting her summer vacation.

No question of leaving with her old car, explains Cynthia: "She is over twenty years old, we wanted to leave with a modern car, to hit the road safely. We have already had to cancel the June holidays and our outings and there for at the end of July, we still booked with the hope of being able to leave”, she explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

Her dealer promised her a delivery at the beginning of July, but after several postponements, she only half believes it.

"The savings, we don't have them"

Delays in deliveries which also weigh on the wallet.

Faced with the cost of gasoline, and to pollute less, many motorists are now opting for LPG cars.

"We said to ourselves with LPG it's great, we will be able to save money. In the end, between February and today, the savings, we don't have them too much, so we are frustrated", deplores Anthony .

After months of waiting, he finally chose another vehicle, available sooner.
