In detail, the Ministry of Community Development indicated that the social support program for low-income people in the United Arab Emirates has a total value of 28 billion dirhams, with annual social support raised from 2.7 billion to five billion dirhams annually.

Senior citizens, the medically incapacitated, people of determination who do not have an income exceeding the value of the prescribed assistance for the number of family members, families of prisoners, orphans, and those of unknown parentage who do not have an income that exceeds the value of the prescribed assistance, are entitled to social assistance.

The value of social assistance

The ministry explained that the value of social assistance is calculated according to the number of family members and their entitlement to allowances, and it varies from one family to another according to social conditions.

The main beneficiary will receive an amount of 5,000 dirhams, and the wife will receive an allowance of 3,500 dirhams, while the allowance for the first son is 2,400 dirhams, the second and third sons will be 1,600 dirhams, and the fourth son and his successors will be 800 dirhams.

The allowance for children enrolled in university studies is raised to 3,200 dirhams for outstanding students enrolled in specific universities.

The housing allowance allowance, which amounts to a maximum of 2500 dirhams, is added if the conditions of the allowance are applied, and the experience allowance for the working and retired head of the family is added by 2000 dirhams to the basic amount every 10 years until the basic amount reaches 13,000 dirhams per month.

The primary beneficiary, who is 45 years old and does not work, receives conditional social assistance in the amount of 2,000 dirhams, which increases by 1,000 dirhams every five years, to reach 5,000 dirhams when he reaches the age of 60, and his wife receives a wife's allowance of 1,000 dirhams until she reaches 3500 dirhams when the husband reaches the age of 60 years.

The main beneficiary, the job-seeker, also receives temporary social assistance for a period of six months at a value of 5,000 dirhams, and the rest of the allowances related to the wife and children apply to him.

The Ministry of Community Development stated that the beneficiaries of the electricity and water subsidy will be carried out in coordination with the concerned authorities, so that a monthly subsidy of 50% is provided for electricity consumption less than 4,000 kilowatts, and a monthly water subsidy of 50% for water consumption less than 26,000 gallons.

And it confirmed the opening of the registration door to request electricity and water subsidies, starting yesterday, through its website.

Retirees who have children under the age of 21 who are unmarried, do not work, and whose total income is less than 25 thousand dirhams per month (the Ministry must be informed of changes in family income and changes in marital status) are also eligible for electricity and water support.

The Ministry of Community Development stated that the fuel subsidy for some groups of society with low incomes will be in the event that fuel prices rise above 2.1 dirhams / liter, where the amount of the subsidy will be calculated according to the monthly fuel prices.

The government will provide a monthly subsidy of 85% of the value of the fuel in this case, and the value of the subsidy may vary depending on the case, as the head of the employee family is entitled to a subsidy of 300 liters, while the working wife gets an additional 200 liters.

The employed breadwinner, from the husband or wife, receives a subsidy of 300 liters, if one of them does not have the support (retired or not working).

In addition, the pensioner, from the husband or wife, receives a subsidy of 300 liters if he has children under the age of 21, who are not employed and unmarried and one of them is not supported (retired or not working).
