Off the coast of Sahl Hasheesh, the body of a Romanian tourist in his late 40s was discovered just hours after a deadly shark attack on a 68-year-old Austrian woman.
Both attacks occurred within 600 meters of each other, according to sources to Reuters.
The first victim was taken to a local private hospital, according to a source at the Directorate of Health in the Red Sea with whom Reuters spoke.
He added that there were attempts to revive her, but that she died from her injuries.
Egypt's environment ministry said in a statement that a committee had been set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attacks and any scientific reasons behind them.
It was also mentioned that Amr Hanafi, the governor of the Red Sea's administrative area, has issued an order to stop all activity in the area around the attacks.
