China Overseas Chinese Network, July 4th, according to Singapore's "Lianhe Zaobao" report, recently, Singapore Teochew Bayi Guild Hall launched a Teochew guide activity to introduce Singapore's local excellent special exhibition to more seniors who can only speak Teochew. Three days after the launch, the six events were full and the response was overwhelming.

This is the second time that Teochew Bayi Guild Hall has co-organized a Teochew guided tour with the Teochew Culture and History Society of Singapore after the 90th anniversary of its establishment in 2019. The Teochew People in the Traffic”, took visitors to Bukit Basal Road and Guangdong Min Road to explore the social and cultural activities of the Teochew people in Singapore in history.

The other two guided tours introduce the National Museum's special exhibition "The Era of Chaos: Retrospect and Significance of the Occupation of Singapore in 1942" in Teochew, and the special exhibition "Praying for Good Fortune and Saying New Year Pictures" in Wanqingyuan.

Chen Liqing, Director of the Cultural and Educational Section of Teochew Bayi Guild Hall, said: "We hope to introduce the two excellent special exhibitions of the National Museum and Wanqing Garden in a familiar language through the Teochew guide to more elderly Singaporeans who can only speak Teochew. The younger generation accompanies their elders to participate. By holding the 'Teochew People of Chinatown', we hope to make more Singaporeans aware of the colorful life of Teochew people in that area.”

The 61-year-old Ms. Zhang participated in the first guided tour of "Pray for Good Fortune, Welcome Xiangxiang and Say New Year Pictures" in Wanqingyuan.

She said: "I have always wanted to visit Wanqing Garden. When I learned that there was a tour guide in Teochew, I immediately signed up to participate. I am from Teochew, and although I can speak Teochew, some of the vocabulary the tour guide uses is the old one. It is used by generations, and it is rarely heard now, so I feel very kind and touched."
