A gunman opened fire in the middle of hundreds of spectators who had come to watch the traditional July 4 national holiday parade with their families.

The first amateur images show the chaos and the panic movements of the crowd caused by the first shots.

In their flight, the spectators who came with their children left behind strollers, folding chairs, blankets and unfortunately large pools of blood, reports our correspondent in Miami,

David Thomson

.

Between 20 and 25 bullets would have been fired.

At least five people have been killed and 16 are hospitalized.

Authorities are urging residents to stay home as the suspect has not yet been arrested or identified.

The shooter is still on the run, so police say the shootout isn't over yet.
