The official end of the school year is set for Thursday July 7 for the 6.5 million primary school students.

A date in the middle of the week which does not necessarily suit the parents responsible for organizing the holidays.

Some of them do not hesitate to put their children on leave a little earlier.

While the end of the school year is scheduled for Thursday, July 7, several primary classes are already depopulated of their students.

According to an OpinionWay survey, one in two parents acknowledges having withdrawn their child from school before the official end of the year date.

This year 2022 is no exception to the rule.

In theory, parents who practice truancy incur a fine of 135 euros.

A sanction never actually applied by the Ministry of National Education.

This benefits colonies and other holiday clubs, such as Saint-Brévin, near Nantes, in Loire-Atlantique, where Europe 1 went.

"She went all the way, almost"

In this municipality on the Atlantic coast, school is well and truly over for a good number of children who are already enjoying the joys of the holidays while their classmates are going to stay with their noses in their notebooks.

Something to delight Gaëlle, director of a beach club.

"We have around twenty children already for this start of the season. These are children who are still supposed to be in school."

These children therefore swapped the schoolbag for the suitcase a little in advance.

"I'm quitting school, I'm taking a vacation," proclaims this toddler.

Crossed at the entrance to a large campsite, the parents assume.

"She's going to miss the last week, it doesn't matter", "she was almost to the end", we can hear.

"I was convinced that school ended last Friday. So I said: 'Too bad, we're going to miss school'", even confides this mother.

An effective solution for cheaper holidays

A calendar error that is good for the wallet, especially in times of inflation.

Leaving earlier very often means leaving cheaper.

"Every year, we leave in the same period so we have reductions", testifies this mother.

"It's true that mid-July to mid-August, it's overpriced," remarks another.

Prices that will indeed increase from simple to double, even more in one week.

Confirmation from Nicolas, manager of the "Paradis" campsite in Saint-Brévin.

"The rates at the moment are still very, very attractive. From July 7, they start to be a little more expensive."

In a few days, everything will increase.

The prices, of course, but also the occupancy rate, which will increase from 86% this week to more than 90% from next weekend.
