The independence movement recovers its unity before those it considers the "main enemies" of the cause.

This Monday it was the turn of Supreme Court magistrate Manuel Marchena who attended the Barcelona Bar Association to hold a conference on "artificial intelligence and criminal proceedings" organized by the entity's criminal law section.

His presence in Barcelona caused a hundred people to appear at the door of the College to protest and forced the Mossos d'Esquadra to deploy to guard the entrance of the building and allow access to the lawyers who attended the event.

The conference was reserved for collegiate lawyers who had to register in advance until the available places were exhausted, which happened last Friday.

However, a dozen lawyers took advantage of the opening words of the act to leave as a sign of protest at the presence of Marchena along with some cry of protest and showing an "estelada" flag.

The rest of the lawyers remained in their seats and some even disgraced their lack of respect for the College.

Shortly after, and before starting, the attendees applauded in recognition of the magistrate.

Meanwhile, in the street, the demonstrators called by the ANC, Òmnium Cultural and groups of lawyers linked to sovereignty, who wore togas, continued with the protest in which they wanted to denounce the "politicization of justice" although they ended up shouting slogans like " Marchena a la trena" or "Marchena to prison for being a fascist and bastard", against the magistrate who presided over the room that sentenced the sovereignist leaders for sedition.

They also insulted the lawyers who attended the conference who had to access escorted by the police.

There was tension when a group of protesters wanted to prevent entry to the conference, so the Mossos had to push to allow access.

Oblivious to this controversy, since from the floor where the conference was held the street could not be heard, Marchena offered his conference.

From the Bar Association of Barcelona it was recalled that "it will always be a guarantor of plurality of thought and freedom of expression", for which its governing board "does not censor or veto" the presence of jurists.

In addition, they recall that the commissions that are part of the Association are elected by "all the associated collegiate persons" and have "full autonomy" to organize conferences and training events in which jurists and accredited experts participate.
