Due to a warning strike by money messengers, cash at ATMs in Hesse could become scarce in some places.
The work stoppages began as planned, said Guido Jurock, strike leader of the Verdi union, on Monday.
With the start of the early shift, the majority of employees at a company in Neu Isenburg stopped working.
The focus is also on a company in Linden near Giessen.
According to the union, money messengers from companies in Frankfurt also spontaneously joined.
Since "more or less all employees in the security and money industry" are now taking part in the strike, the Verdi spokesman assumes that there will be bottlenecks in the cash supply: "It could be tight at one or the other ATM in Hesse." The strike of the money messengers , which not only supplies banks and savings banks but also supermarkets, should last two days and end on the evening of July 5th with the late shift.
The Verdi union had called on money messengers across Germany to go on warning strikes, which otherwise fill the machines with cash.
The third round of negotiations between the employers and the union broke up on Thursday night without a result.
Verdi demands an hourly wage of 20.31 euros for the mobile services in cash and valuables transport and 18.03 euros for stationary money processing for the approximately 800 to 1000 Hessian money messengers.
