The famous American pop band Maroon 5, which is scheduled to perform in Korea in November, is causing controversy by using the Japanese 'Rising Sun Flag' design on their official website.

According to the music industry on the 3rd, Maroon 5 released the 2022 world tour schedule including Seoul through the official website.

It is their first concert in Korea in 3 years and 9 months.

They are so popular in Korea that they filled the 30,000-seat audience at the performance held at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul in February 2019.

However, Maroon 5 uses the design of the Rising Sun flag in the notice to announce this world tour, and is frowned upon by domestic fans.

The Rising Sun Flag refers to a flag in the shape of a red sun spreading around the red sun pattern of the Japanese flag.

The Rising Sun Flag is a military flag used by Japan during World War II and is recognized as a symbol of Japanese militarism and is classified as a war criminal flag.

Earlier in 2019, Maroon 5 member Jess Carmichael defended the Rising Sun Flag by protecting Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

At the time, when Korean netizens criticized Sean Lennon's girlfriend wearing a T-shirt with the rising sun flag on it, posting a picture on social media, Sean said, "Koreans are like racists without a history education." "There is no such thing as Asian Nazis. I'm out of my mind," he mocked Korean netizens.

To this, Jess Carmichael agreed with Sean Lennon by commenting, 'Sick burn.'

Meanwhile, Maroon 5 is scheduled to perform at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on November 30th.

Then, on December 4th, in Tokyo, and on the 8th of the same month, in Osaka, they plan to perform twice in Japan.
