Recently, the Japan Ocean Research and Development Agency announced that a giant deep-sea fish was photographed at a depth of more than 2,000 meters, with an estimated total length of about 2.53 meters.

The deep-sea fish, which has a dark blue-purple body and no scales on its head, was discovered in Suruga Bay outside Shizuoka Prefecture. It was registered as a new species in 2021, and only six have been caught or photographed so far.
