China News Service, July 4 (Xinhua) According to a comprehensive report, recently, Jayland Walker, a 25-year-old African-American man in the United States, was shot and killed by police during a traffic inspection.

The Ohio State Police released body-worn video footage on the 3rd. Eight police officers involved in the case successively shot him more than 90 times, while Walker had about 60 wounds.

The case quickly sparked local protests.

The public described it as "a massacre" and demanded to prosecute the police officers involved.

Recently, a 25-year-old African-American man, Gerland Walker, was shot dead by as many as eight police officers in Akron, Ohio.

On the 3rd, the local police released the video of the police bodyguard at the time of the incident at a press conference. From the video, it can be seen that Walker was shot and killed by 8 police officers while escaping.

On June 27, local time, Walker was stopped by Akron police on suspicion of violating traffic rules.

In a statement, the police department said officers tried to pull Walker over without specifying which traffic rule he violated; when Walker did not pull over, they were forced to pursue.

AFP said that multiple police officers eventually chased Walker to a parking lot.

Body camera footage was too blurry to clearly see what was going on, but a police statement said they believed Valk posed a "lethal threat."

The picture shows the police running towards Gerland Walker's vehicle.

"All officers present shot at Walker, and fired several shots in rapid succession." Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Walker's family has questioned the use of lethal force by police against him.

Attorney Bobby DiSelo said he and his family reviewed footage from the scene.

He saw no evidence of the allegations that Walker fired at police.

The picture shows Gerland Walker getting out of the car and fleeing.

"When he got knocked down, he went straight down, and I think he got hit more than 90 times," DiSelo said.

"Based on our current investigation, we have details that he has 60 to 80 wounds."

Akron Police Chief Myritt confirmed that the medical examiner observed 60 wounds on Walker's body.

Responding to DiSelo's claim that Valcke had not seen the police brandishing guns, Mylett pointed out that the investigation is still ongoing and it is difficult to get details from the live viewing of the video.

In addition, the eight officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave until the investigation is completed.

The incident immediately caused a sensation, with local people protesting, saying "this is a massacre".

On July 2, more than 100 people gathered outside the city courthouse, chanting "No justice, no peace, sue the police."

On the 3rd, hundreds of protesters took to the streets, holding banners with slogans such as "Justice for Gerland".

Authorities in Akron moved some heavy equipment near the police station to serve as a barrier and canceled Independence Day celebrations scheduled for the weekend, saying "this is not the time for the city to celebrate" amid fears of possible "unrest."

On July 3, in Akron, Ohio, a demonstrator protested the police shooting and death of Walker.

In recent years, there have been frequent police shootings of African-American residents in the United States.

On February 2, 2022, the Minneapolis Police Department's SWAT team entered an apartment with a "no-knock warrant" and shot and killed a black man.

On April 4, an African-American resident in Michigan was knelt down and shot by police during a traffic inspection.

On May 25, 2020, an African-American man Floyd was "kneeled and killed" by a white police officer in Minneapolis, United States.

After the live video was uploaded to the Internet, a long-term and large-scale wave of protests against police brutality and racial discrimination occurred across the United States.
