China News Agency, New York, July 4th. At least six people were killed and more than 20 others injured in a shooting incident in Highland Park, a northern suburb of Chicago, USA on the 4th.

Since the incident took place at the scene of a local parade commemorating the Independence Day of the United States, the officials urgently cancelled the relevant activities and asked nearby people to take emergency shelter.

  According to the police report, the shooting occurred at 10:14 am on the 4th, and a parade to commemorate the Independence Day of the United States was being held there.

The police at the scene responded immediately after hearing the gunshots, and reinforcements were dispatched from multiple departments.

As of 2:00 pm, the incident has killed 6 people and injured more than 20 people.

  Police said the shooter, believed to be a white man between the ages of 18 and 20, remains at large.

For safety reasons, the parade on the day has been canceled. People nearby should take shelter in an emergency, and others should try to avoid going to the area where the shooting incident occurred.

  More than 30 people were injured in the incident and taken to the hospital, according to CNN.

Police said the gunman, wearing a white and blue short-sleeved T-shirt, was attacked on a roof and left a rifle behind.

Police suspect that the gunman fired random bullets from the roof.

  The "Chicago Sun" said that Highland Park police are doing all they can to find the whereabouts of the gunman, and the FBI has also been involved in the investigation.

They called on the public to actively provide clues, including photos and videos taken at the scene of the crime, nearby surveillance videos, etc.

Police said the gunman may still be in Highland Park or may have fled further afield.
