Yle: Finland proposed to place a NATO base in South Karelia, on the border with Russia

Earlier, journalist Sernur Yassykaya expressed the opinion in the Yeni Şafak newspaper that the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO would lead to the complete encirclement of Kaliningrad by the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Russia will have to take retaliatory measures.

On June 30, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the decision to strengthen the US military presence in Europe and expand the North Atlantic Alliance to the east violates the Russia-NATO Founding Act.
