Garcia never found the solution against an opponent who was in the lead the whole match by breaking from the first game.

It will therefore not do better than its best result of 2017 on the London lawn.

The French however showed a good aggressiveness in her game, but her risk-taking did not always pay off, her winning points (24) being compensated by her unprovoked faults (25).

She also fell on an opponent who didn't give up, bringing back a lot of balls and scoring some pretty incredible points on the counter.

"I don't know how I got there, I played point by point trying to fight as much as possible. To be in the quarter-finals is a dream," said the 23-year-old Czech player who will play the first Grand Slam quarter-final of his career.

"It's an incredible moment, it takes work and investment every day, but I love it so much and it's for those moments that we work," she added.

In the quarter-finals, she will be opposed to the winner of the match between the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, 2nd player in the world, and the Belgian Elise Mertens (N.31).
