“In accordance with the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on July 3, a state of emergency came into effect on the territory of Karakalpakstan, providing for a curfew from 21:00 to 07:00 (from 19:00 to 05:00 Moscow time).

The first night in the state of emergency passed normally, without any incidents," Jumaniyazov told TASS.

During the curfew, not a single violator was detained, he stressed.

On July 2, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev declared a state of emergency in the territory of Karakalpakstan, where the riots took place, until August 2.

Also, a curfew was introduced in the republic.

On July 1, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan reported that a protest demonstration was held in the city of Nukus in Karakalpakstan in connection with the “misinterpretation of constitutional reforms”, the authorities deployed the forces and means of law enforcement agencies on the territory of the dekhkan market.
