Large increase in taxis in Östergötland

Many trips go to airports and train stations and the customers have increased.

- We have noticed this year that we have gained several new customers, says Klaus Saari at Taxibil in Östergötland.

Despite the fact that the number of taxis has increased, the report also shows that the number of bankruptcies in the taxi industry was high in 2020 and that some vehicles thus disappeared.

- A number of taxis probably disappeared as a result of the pandemic, among those who have a car and only drive regular taxi journeys.

We who are bigger and drive socially paid trips such as school transport and sick trips have done better, says Klaus Saari.

The electric car is beginning to establish itself

Diesel cars are still the most common among those who drive taxis, but more electric cars are finding their way onto the market.

High fuel prices mean that the share can be even larger, believes Klaus Saari.

- Now there are electric cars in good size and better infrastructure to charge them, which means that it is not as difficult, he says.
