Asked about the Covid-19 epidemic, infectious disease specialist Benjamin Davido warns of the situation as the summer holidays approach.
"The BA.5 variant wants to spend the summer with us," he explains and predicts an epidemic peak for the month of August.
After months of waiting, the summer holidays are finally starting in France and Europe.

But with 125,000 positive cases detected yesterday, the epidemic jumped in France.
“The BA.5 variant wants to spend the summer with us”, underlines Benjamin Davido, infectious disease specialist at the Raymond-Poincaré hospital in Garches.
And to add: "We find ourselves with an unprecedented disease which no longer depends on the season".
As the French and European tourists prepare to travel massively over the next two months, the infectious disease specialist assures him: "no longer putting a mask on transport, this is probably what was one of the starters" of this seventh wave of Covid-19.
Despite vaccination and herd immunity, "the lesson to be learned from this seventh wave that looms before us is that natural immunity is not enough to protect people in the long term. The vaccine, itself if he cannot prevent everything, at least avoid the serious forms".
