At least six people died on Sunday when a large block of ice detached from a glacier and descended on a group of climbers in the Alps, the Italian newspaper Corriere reports. Eight people are injured and about ten are still missing.
The accident occurred on Mount Marmolada, which at 3,300 meters is the highest peak in the eastern Dolomites.
Rescue dogs and at least five helicopters have been sent to the area.
According to the AP, it has been unusually hot at the top, around 10 plus degrees.
