A man was rushed to hospital this Sunday after being run over by a train near Saint-Romain-en-Gier (Rhône), reports

Le Progrès.

Aged 44, he lay down on a railway track around 7:30 a.m.

A TER connecting Saint-Etienne and Lyon then literally rolled over him.

The victim survived the shock.

He received first aid on the spot by the firefighters before being airlifted to the Lyon Sud hospital.

Shortly before, he had announced to his companion that he wanted to end his life.

The very shocked train driver was picked up and replaced by a colleague.
