5.2-magnitude earthquake strikes Xinjiang, northwest China

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale rocked today's Akchi County in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The China Earthquake Networks Center said - in a statement reported by "Xinhua" news agency - that the epicenter of the earthquake was monitored at the confluence of latitude 40.88 north and longitude 78.14 degrees east, with a depth of 10 km.
