A Russian vessel known to have been detained by Turkish authorities

Ukraine says Turkish authorities have detained a Russian cargo ship carrying its grain.

According to Reuters on the 3rd local time, Ukrainian ambassador Vasil Bodnar Zhuturkiye said on a broadcast that Turkish customs had detained the Russian flag-bearing cargo ship 'Zivek Jolly' at the port of Karasu.

"The fate of the Russian cargo ship will be decided after a meeting of the investigation team on Monday," Bodnar said.

Reuters reported on the same day that they confirmed that the 'Zebek Jolie' was moored about 1 km from the entrance to the Karasu port.

A Ukrainian foreign ministry official said the vessel was loaded with 4,500 tons of Ukrainian grain.

Earlier, on the 30th of last month, the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office sent a letter to the Turkish Ministry of Justice requesting that the vessel be detained.

Since the outbreak of the war in February, Ukraine has claimed that Russian troops have looted its grain, but Russia has denied this.
