The Palestinians hand over to America the bullet that killed Shireen Abu Aqleh for examination

A Palestinian official said today, Saturday, that the Palestinian Authority will hand over the bullet that killed veteran Al-Jazeera journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh to the US authorities for forensic examination.

Abu Aqleh, a Palestinian-American journalist, was killed on May 11 while covering an Israeli army raid in the Palestinian city of Jenin in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Authority said after the investigation that an Israeli soldier shot her in an "intentional killing" incident.

Israel denied the accusation and said it was continuing its own investigation.

Israeli authorities say they cannot determine whether Abu Aqila was accidentally hit by an Israeli soldier or a Palestinian militant during a shootout without examining the bullet to see if it matches an Israeli military weapon.

"We agreed to hand the bullet over to the Americans for examination," Palestinian Attorney General Akram al-Khatib told Reuters, without giving further details.
