His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, "may God protect him," had directed the provision of urgent aid to those affected by the earthquake in Afghanistan.

The UAE Ambassador to Afghanistan, Issa Salem Al Dhaheri, said that sending the field hospital and medical aid comes within the framework of supporting efforts to achieve rapid response to medical emergencies for those affected by the earthquake in Afghanistan, and to contribute to alleviating the suffering of those affected and improving their health conditions.

He stressed that sending medical equipment and a specialized medical team comes within the framework of the UAE's keenness to provide all the necessary requirements to start operating the field hospital as soon as possible to support medical efforts as a result of the consequences of the earthquake and the presence of numbers of injured in need of rapid medical intervention and follow-up of their sick cases.

He pointed out that the UAE recently sent an aid plane carrying 30 tons of urgent food within the relief air bridge for the earthquake victims in Afghanistan to support the humanitarian situation and contribute to filling the food shortage for a large segment of families affected by the earthquake, especially children and women.
