The alleged assassin of Shaïna, a 15-year-old girl burned alive in Creil in October 2019, was returned to the Assize Court for minors on Friday, auguring an upcoming trial, said the lawyer for the family of the victim.

"This is an important step" for Shaïna Hansye's family, "and they are relieved" to know that there will be a trial, said Me Negar Haeri, adding that the date of the trial was not yet known.

Pregnant for a few days, Shaïna had first been stabbed several times and then burned alive, in a shed in her housing estate.

A boy with whom she had an affair, 17 years old at the time of the events, was quickly indicted and placed in detention.

Claiming his innocence, the latter had appealed against his dismissal before the Assize Court in 2021. The investigating chamber of the Amiens Court of Appeal rejected this appeal and confirmed on Friday the dismissal of the young man, who is the only defendant in this case, said Me Haeri, confirming information from

Two years before this murder, Shaïna, then aged 13, had been the victim of a sexual assault in a meeting by boys aged 14 to 17, which had earned her a reputation as an "easy girl", according to her family.

In this case, the first act of what was to end in tragedy, three young people were sentenced in March to suspended sentences ranging from 8 to 12 months in prison by the Senlis juvenile court.

The prosecution, which had notably requested two years in prison, including one firm, against the youngest whom it designated as the "leader", appealed.

The case must be retried by the Court of Appeal of Amiens, on a date not yet known.
