According to the publication, the EU may soon release a legal explanation for the fourth package of sanctions, which will clarify that transportation to Kaliningrad is not affected by the sanctions.

It is noted that the European Union thus allows Lithuania to "retreat, saving face", but in Vilnius this step is perceived as a defeat.

On June 17, Lithuanian Railways notified Kaliningrad Railways of stopping the transit of a number of sanctioned goods from June 18.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that lifting restrictions on transit is the prerogative of the EC.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the air of Rossiya 24, said earlier that the European Union would have to work out a position on Kaliningrad transit.

The Kremlin noted that there was no progress on the situation with the transit of goods to Kaliningrad.
